A person is smart, but people are stupid

January 17, 2007

I was discussing with my friends how we in Jordan and Arabs in general use our emotions to judge everything even the biggest issues that we might face.am saying this regarding the response of the people after what happened with saddam and the way that people changed their minds about hizbulaa for example.now am not discussing hizbualla or shiaa or such issues, but every now and then I get amazed of how people think.

lets go back and remember Alzarqawi case, many of Jordanian people used to support Alqaeda and the percentage of those people who didn’t mind and didn’t object on what the zarqawi was doing in Iraq, but just after Amman bombings the curve of the supporters dropped down in a dramatic way,not because the people thought about it before and made a decision based on facts, but it was rather an emotional one based on the pictures of victims of that act.

again am not discussing hizbualla,Alqaeda or zarqawi, but am wondering if we can use our minds more often and in and more effective way that we do now, cause as far as I know what is coming to this region is far worse than we witnessed till now.I remembered something I read somewhere (or maybe it was played on TV)

anyway’s it says “A person is smart, but people are stupid”

Well, emotional based judgement is really not limited to Arabs or Jordanians.
And I think that last sentence I’m not sure I fully agree with it

maybe because things are getting more and more confusing everyday… there was a time when I was really perplexed and didn’t knwo what’s right and what’s wrong anymore… I think the best way is to use your mind, but it doesn’t serve the purpose perfectly everytime, because it’s too confusing and our emotions interferes with our judgment
